Canonized in 2019 and soon be declared a Doctor of the Church, John Henry Newman was a 19th century English convert. Among his voluminous writings, Newman’s sermons offer the most accessible introduction to his thought. This course will offer a selection of Newman’s published sermons both from his Anglican and Catholic periods and plumb their literary virtues and spiritual depth.
