Exploring the Liturgical Art and Symbolism of St. Gregory the Great

St. Gregory the Great Church, 5545 N Paulina St
Saturday, May 27, 10:00-11:30 a.m.
led by Sarah Crow (artist-in-residence)
St. Gregory's Hall and Catholic Church Tours have partnered to bring you this unique experience.
This tour of Edgewater’s Norman Gothic Church, St. Gregory the Great, will highlight and ‘decode’ the rich symbolism of the church’s liturgical art - from stained glass windows and carved saints to decorative medallions and color symbolism.
The abundance and coherence of St. Gregory the Great’s art and iconography is the unique result of a close collaboration between the founding pastor, Rev. Monsignor Michael Klasen (1874-1945) and the architect and artisans commissioned to furnish the church. As we will see, every detail of the art and design serves to illuminate scripture, church history, and tradition.
