Medieval Nativity Illumination Workshop

Saturday, December 16 & Sunday, December 17
St. Gregory the Great Parish Center, 3rd Floor

A Medieval Nativity Illumination - perfect for Christmas cards or gifts!

❖ Learn the medieval technique of lavishly illuminating an initial letter
❖ Reproduce a 14th-century illumination of the letter ‘H’ with a nativity scene by Florentine artist Don Simone Camaldolese
❖ Make your own paints using a medieval recipe
❖ Gild details using genuine 23.5K shell gold

Registration deadline is Sunday, December 10. 

$150 Registration fee includes materials. Open to anyone age 12 and up.

You can pay online or mail a check. Make checks payable to Mary, Mother of God Parish with "St. Gregory's Hall" in the memo line to 5545 N Paulina St, Chicago, IL 60640. All donations are used to cover program and staff-related expenses of St. Gregory's Hall. No funds are used for general Parish operating expenses.

About the Instructor

Sarah Crow is a sacred artist who has mastered Baroque oil painting techniques (see her reproduction of Caravaggio’s Calling of Saint Matthew here). She is a former lecturer at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and currently the artist in residence at St. Gregory’s Hall where she maintains an active studio of both sacred art commissions and representational paintings.
